The Secret of Gospel Change

May 25, 2010

I am fascinated with the topic of transformation. Likely it is due in part to the awareness of the need in my own heart and life to be changed into what God wants me to become. But whatever the reason, I am simply mesmerized and blown away when God changes people. I enjoy books and sermons that deal with the issue of sanctification, of how Christians are transformed from the inside out into what God desires people to be.

One of the best books I have recently read on this topic is You Can Change, by Tim Chester. The author deals with change in a very biblical and realistic way. Over the course of several posts, I plan on quoting from this book. Some of the quotes are the author’s, while others will be people he quotes in the book.

The first quote is from Chester himself (p. 15) in introducing the topic of change:

Jesus isn’t just good for us–he is good itself. He defines good. The secret of gospel change is being convinced that Jesus is the good life and the fountain of all joy.
